Choosing Your Board

Start with how the board will be used: daily preparation, a substantial kitchen work surface, or serving and gifting. Construction, wood, and size each shape the choice.

One solid piece

Our one-piece cutting boards are made from a single piece of walnut, maple, or cherry, rather than laminated strips. Their continuous grain is part of their character. Choose 8 × 10, 10 × 12, or 10 × 18 inches, at approximately ¾ inch thick.

Walnut end grain

The walnut end-grain board is assembled from joined pieces with the end grain facing up. The resulting pattern differs from the continuous surface of a one-piece board. Its approximately 16.5 × 12 × 1.25 inch size offers a substantial prep surface with a juice groove.

For the shared table

Our walnut and acacia charcuterie boards are serving boards constructed from joined pieces. The medium is approximately 15.5 × 8 inches and the large is approximately 20 × 8 inches, including the handle. They pair naturally with a personal name or date for weddings, housewarmings, and client gifts.

Walnut, maple, cherry, or acacia?

  • Walnut: rich brown tones, sometimes with lighter sapwood.
  • Maple: a lighter natural palette and its own individual grain.
  • Cherry: warm tones that deepen over time.
  • Acacia: varied color and grain in our charcuterie range.

Every board is different. Photography represents examples, not a guaranteed identical grain or color pattern.

Choose a size that fits your space

Measure the counter or table where the board will be used, and consider washing and storage space. A smaller board is easy to bring out for quick tasks; a larger one gives you more room to work or serve.

Finishing details

Optional rubber feet are available on one-piece and end-grain boards. Charcuterie boards do not offer feet. All main boards can be engraved, and care products can be purchased separately.
